What’s left of Coachella?

Posted on in News eng

With the astonishing performance of “Queen Beyoncè”, the standards of what is considered the most alternative music festival above all, were altered forever.
Does still mean something the “Free Spirit” of the Coachella Music Festival in the age of social network?

Last weekend the nineteenth edition of the most glamour music festival started, but it isn’t only the musical line-up the main character. All the celebrities & Co. showing their boho chic looks on the Californian parterre are taking the stage of this event, who probably was less trendy, but a little more rock’n’roll before social networks.

From the first edition of 1999 nothing last apart from memories; the stage of Coachella (the name is probably referred to the snake icon of Mexico City) hosted big names of musical scene. From 2004 it became a series of big-time artists which helped to create the festival appeal and the magnetic aura causing the wide success nowadays.

However you can say that the Coachella Festival is always less alternative and more POP. Originally frugal and less expensive, it gave space to less pretentious engagements artists (i.e. Nine Inch Nails), but preserving the true spirit of an “outdoor festival” with a much more important hippie influence compared to the instagrammed versions of today.

The royal show of Beyoncé accompanied by the Destiny’s Child of last Saturday night sign the definitive loss of the basic values of the event. Without taking anything away from the queen of pop’s performance (we didn’t excpected less from her), we had the doubt of being in the right place.
Probably we should try to get used to this remunerative trend maneuver, but we are sure that the real charme of Coachella will always be in our mind.
